Case Study
Quay Quarter:
Future Workplace Brief
Technical Advisor for Workplace

Year
2014
Locations
Sydney, CBD NSW
Scale
Quay Quarter Tower / 90,000sqm
A highly flexible structure to accomodate new and emerging ways of working
The Proposition
To design a brief for new ways of working that would inform the International design competition for the Quay Quarter site. Antoinette Trimble was engaged (for Veldhoen + Company) to form insights into the needs of the future office worker in 2040 and how these needs would practically impact the design of a high rise building and surrounding precinct. The project included the development of the Future Workplace Brief (2040) for AMP’s Circular Quay Quarter International Design Competition.
The Competition Brief
The brief informed AMP Capital’s business case for the workplace component of the building including an approach to tenanting the building. It pushed architects to explore spaces that could flex and accomodate an evolving way of working and the potential spatial needs of new and emerging industries. Antoinette Trimble was responsible for client liaison with AMP Capital. Following the production of the future workplace brief, Antoinette formed part of AMP Capitals competition advisory team to review submissions in detail and provide commentary on the performance of the workplace as demonstrated in their designs.
“…instrumental in creating a forward thinking and very aspirational brief for future ways of working that would push architects beyond the norms of commercial architectural thinking and design”
Eve Clark, Design Manager, AMP Capital
